About Katie

Katherine (Katie) Nickeas grew up in Chicago, Illinois. She is currently studying art at the University of Iowa, and is earning a Bachelors of Fine Arts in 3D Design with a certificate in Entrepreneurial Management. Her interest in art began from a young age when her father introduced her to drawing. Her interest in design came from growing up in Chicago and taking trips downtown to see the beautiful architecture. She became drawn to the arches and curves seen on buildings such as the Marina Towers, and it is reflected in a lot of her work. She mostly uses curves and organic shapes in her work, but she also likes to play with scale. Katie has worked with many materials from wood to metal.
